安装：首先检查发动机是否正常，发动机正常效果才显著。然后擦火花塞，更换机油，化油器车安在化油器前2—3公分进油管上。电喷车安在喷油嘴前3-5公分左右进油管上，安装前应把电池负极断开，并打开全部用电器放电，以便微处理器重新设定，待节油器装好后再把电池负极连上。柴油车安装在喷射油泵前3—5公分的进油管上，2.0排量以上的车最好安装两台。尽量使节油器远离排气管等发热件。两台节油器可相邻或在5公分内，安装方向应成90度角（一正一侧）。把节油器两瓣合在油管外壁用捆绑带扎紧。（祥见安装图1.2.3.4）
调试：如效果不明显可把节油器向喷油嘴，喷射油泵，化油器方向移，难起动说明力量过大，可向反方向移，电喷车前后移动，避开微处理器。
有些车辆滤芯质量不好，造成杂质被吸附在捆扎节油器的管道内壁，建议每半年取下节油器，过几天杂质脱落再安上。烧完第一箱油效果不明显、黑烟增大是清除气缸积炭的正常反映，从第2箱油后效果渐显，行驶1500公里后(约2-4箱油)机油浓黑，应重新更换，此后节油可渐达最佳效果。
节油率计算；A、百公里油耗=（耗油升数÷行驶里程）×100；
